Spring and summers are warm and offer the visitor a great amount of things to do. Boating, swimming, hiking, biking, bird watching, morel mushroom picking, hunting, fishing, jet skiing, water skiing, tubing, relaxing on a pontoon boat, ATV / ORV recreation, canoeing, kayaking, and sailing. 

The Erickson Center also offers a Wellness Center - the gym offers a variety of work out equipment in a pleasant atmosphere.

Paddle the Refuge
Drift quietly though the Manistique River through the Seney Wildlife Refuge just 15 minutes away from Curtis you will find one of the most enjoyable activities - canoeing or kayaking the Manistique River!  Bring your canoe or rent one. We have local guides & outfitters that can help get your boat in the water! Take a day trip, week trip, or maybe just a few hours - either way its fun for everyone.

"The Manistique River winds its way through the southeastern portion of the refuge. A good place to begin your trip is in the small town of Germfask, Michigan. Here you will find outfitters who rent boats and a road side park with access to the Manistique River for those who have their own. Curtis ATVing and ORVing
ATV and ORV recreational activities are the fastest growing recreational activity in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. There are four types of Off-Road (ORV) trail riding opportunities throughout the State of Michigan:  Motorcycle trails, ATV trails, ORV routes, and scramble areas.  Please check with the Michigan DNR website to find updates because these laws do often get updated in different areas of the state.

If you enjoy world-class fishing, the Manistique Lakes Area is the perfect fishing destination for you. The six major lakes are: North Manistique Lake at 1,722 acres; Big Manistique Lake at 10,130 acres; South Manistique Lake at 4,001 acres; Milakokia Lake at 1,956 acres; Lake Ann Louise at 311 acres; and Millecoquins Lake at 1,890 acres.

Winter Activities
Fall and winters present the perfect opportunities for hunting, ice-fishing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, ice-skating, and dog sledding.

Curtis holds special winter time events for ice-fishing like the annual Ice fishing Tournament, sponsored by the Portage anglers Club.

Special Ice Skating events take place on South Manistique Lake each winter.  The Erickson Center for the Arts also provides a seasonal ice rink for skaters to enjoy.

The Curtis Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to the grooming and maintenance of 140 miles of snowmobile trails annually.  These trails are directly connected to the over 2,500 trails throughout the State of Michigan.
