South Manistique Lake of Curtis, MI
Welcome to Curtis, Michigan and the South Manistique Lake, just one of the many beautiful lakes within Upper Peninsula's Largest Lake Complex. South Manistique Lake is one of our most popular, with a vast array of resorts situated along it.  It also greets visitors to our area offering many great views right from downtown Curtis.  This lake is well known for its walleye, year-round fishing and recreational opportunities.

South Manistique Lake Facts
South Manistique Lake is located in Mackinac County and is also well known as Whitefish Lake.  Curtis, MI is located in between South Manistique Lake and Big Manistique Lake.  Curtis is located at the northern shore of South Manistique Lake.  This lake encompasses a total of 4,000 acres of surface area.  There are four streams that run into the South Manistique Lake and those are Norton Creek, Taylor Creek, Strom Creek and Shoepac River.  Walleye are a prominent species found in South Manistique Lake. The lake was stocked in the early 1970s through the mid-1990s. After the mid-1990s, the lake began supporting natural reproduction of walleyes.

Outdoor Recreation
South Manistique Lake is a popular hot spot for outdoor fun.  Vacationers love to experience our water related recreational opportunities.   Visitors enjoy jet-skiing, swimming, boating, water skiing, pontoon boat rides, and tubing. 

Public Boat Launches
There are four boat launches available for public access, one owned by the town of Curtis and three owned by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The lake is popular for recreation activities in the summer and ice fishing in the winter.
