Erickson Center for the Arts

Curtis Michigan's Erickson Center for the Arts
The Erickson Center for the Arts is a true Michigan treasure situated just west of downtown Curtis, MI at Saw-Wa-Quato & main street with a gorgeous view of South Manistique Lake.

The Erickson Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to "enriching the mind, body and spirit of individuals of all ages..."  They provide educational and cultural activities, along with physical activities.

The Erickson Center for the Arts and the Erickson Center Park offer a variety of activities and events for the community such as Music in the Park, the Independence Day Celebration, the Tri-Lakes Triathlon, Songwriter’s Showcase Staff Concert and Art on the Lake, just to name a few.

Commitment to the Arts
The Erickson Center has many incredible features to its property.  The incredible new building has the Waterfront Gallery & Gifts area now open in the lower level of the center where artists are invited to display their art, jewelry, clothing, wood carvings, along with a variety of other items.

The main floor of the Erickson Center for the Arts features a large open floor plan which hosts musical performances, theatrical performances and conferences.

Vision and Generosity
During the summer of 2002 Richard Erickson and Harlan Maurer met with community members and organizations and concluded there was a need to provide the community with additional educational, cultural and physical activity opportunities.  For twenty-six years, through the cooperation of property owners Clarence & Velma Walsh, the Curtis community had the use of a forty acre parcel of land on the west end of Curtis. The “Walsh property” was identified as being a key in reaching this goal.

This property has now been secured for the perpetual use of the Curtis community. The funding for the property and Erickson Center was made possible through the generosity of Richard and Nancy Erickson of Curtis, Michigan.

Erickson Center Property
The Erickson Center property also provides a band shelter (shown to the right), an incredible part, landscaped grounds with flower gardens, walking trails, and the Helen Newberry Joy Hospital Wellness Center.

Every week special performances are scheduled at the park with musical groups visiting as far as Denmark.  These shows are open to the public.  Please join our community for a relaxing fun time.

Their Mission
"The Mission of the Erickson Center for the Arts is to enrich the mind, body and spirit by providing educational, cultural and physical activity to individuals of all ages."
